I have a solid fuel burner installed in my property that I want to replace so I will require a solid fuel burner building consent. I have contacted Rotorua Lakes Council and checked if they have a record on my property file of the make/model/details of my existing wood burner. Rotorua Lakes Council has confirmed they do not have a record so I understand I need to have my burner verified.
Note: If Rotorua Lakes Council has a record that your fire was lawfully installed then a verification will not be required if a Rotorua Lakes Council agent is submitting the consent on your behalf. Easy Insulation Limited are an approved agent for Rotorua Lakes Council so they can submit solid fuel burner building consents on your behalf - they are also the Regional Council's approved wood burner installer. We recommend you contact Easy Insulation Limited before you finalise (pay a deposit or purchase) a replacement burner and ask them about grants and heating/insulation assistance. Some owner-occupiers are eligible for free replacement heating. The Regional Council also offers landlords and owner-occupiers 10 year loans and a $500 cleaner technology grant if you install an ultra-low emission burner. Contact Easy Insulation Limited on 0800 327 946 or alternatively, phone the Regional Council on 0800 884 880.
